To verify UV1’s ability to inactivate and kill the SARS-CoV-2 virus that causes COVID-19, the device was tested by Taiwan’s Chang Gung University and saw a fantastic result of 99.8% virus reduction in 3 seconds of irradiation. This result makes UV1 one of the very few UV disinfection products on the market that has been proven effective against the virus.
A professor from the university’s Department of Medical Biotechnology and Laboratory Science who led the lab test said that “In addition to SARS-CoV-2, UV-C light has also been proven to inactivate and kill pathogens including Staphylococcus aureus, Influenza A & B, Norovirus, and Rotavirus. Based on our lab test, a 99.8% reduction rate of SARS-CoV-2 virus was achieved after 3 seconds of irradiation with UV1, a 99.9% reduction rate was achieved after 5 seconds. It is estimated that 99% reduction rate can be achieved after 1 second”.
